Recent art

I've been so busy with my renovation, I haven't posted any art.
Here is a new watercolor, and a rock done with a white souffle pen.

Watercolor Class

Today in La Quinta we had another watercolor class with Sonya.
I loved this class!
We did a whimsical watercolor of people walking in the rain.
It was a free loose fast painting, just my style:)

I 'm going to try another, and see if I can do the puddles better.
Reminds me so much of Vancouver:)
Wishing you sunny days,

One thing leads to another

Today was Day 3 in  the Index Card A Day Challenge

So I watercolored a flower, and tried the engraving technique that Susan taught us at Stamp Club.
We watercolored and outlined with a sharp instrument,I used the end of my paint brush.

Then I started a painting of Purple Coneflower (Echinacea), and then did a Cosmos as per Neelima's tutorial.
I couldn't stop there so I copied a wine coaster.
All this creativity sparked by one little index card:)
Happy Sunday,

Watercolour Class

I've been taking a weekly watercolour class, and for a newbie painter, it's been a real challenge.
I've learned tons.

Many of the students have painted before, or were trained in college.
I've never done any art in school.
I took one sculpting class in high school, and for a nerd, I was totally intimidated.
The teacher worked with the talented students, us inexperienced students floundered on our own.
That was the last art class I took until now, MANY years later.

Our teacher, Sonya Ravet, has been fantastic.

She is so helpful, and patient with us newbies.

This is our second watercolour landscape.
It was  done just with one colour, Daniel Smith's Undersea Green.
I was pretty happy with how it turned out, and I think it will look better when framed.

Watercolor Class

Last week I was fortunate to attend a watercolor class in my community.
Sonja was a marvellous teacher, and she made it relaxing for us newbies.
I had always heard that watercolor was difficult.
We were given a sketch as inspiration, and used just one colour of paint.
Daniel Smith's Moonglow, is so cool.
We washed water across the paper then the Moonglow flows into different shades.
The white of the watercolor paper looks like snow.
Here's my very first watercolor ever! I'll do better when I get the right brushes.

We're so lucky to have these classes available to try new techniques.
The cool thing with watercolor is if you make a mistake, you can wash it away:)
