Vienna

I decided to spend 4 days in Vienna on my own, an easy flight from Budapest on Easyjet.
What a carefree visit, time for walking, art museums and pastry shops:)
I booked The Imperial Riding School Renaissance Vienna Hotel, and it turned out to be great.
A beautiful modern hotel in a quiet area near Belvedere Palace, with helpful staff.
A lavish buffet breakfast was included. It was a few tram stops into the old town.

It was sunny and cool and I walked everywhere. I went to Belvedere Castle, which had a fantastic Klimt exhibit. Gustav Klimt

Vienna has the most wonderful pastries. I loved Cafe Demel.

It was crowded, and I was seated at a small table in a smoke filled panelled room, with a sweet young couple originally from China. They now worked in the financial industry in New York.
They loved the fantastic creamy pastries, and asked me if I thought they could travel and raise a family.
I had a delicious pumpkin cream soup with black sunflower seeds and pumpkin oil.
The chocolate layer  cake was one of the best I've ever tasted.
We could watch the pastry chefs work through glass windows.
After they left, a friendly couple from Vienna joined me. They told me all about the city and said I must try Cafe Central.

Cafe Central is wonderful, not crowded,  and non-smoking.
A pianist played.
I had bouillon with sliced pancakes, champagne, and strudel.
A delightful afternoon.
